Study Association
Synkratos
ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear freshmen,

Who are we?
We would like to introduce ourselves to you. We are Synkratos, the study association for students of Archeology and Ancient Sciences.

What is a study association?
A study association is an association specifically focused on the study. Here people from the same study come together for all kinds of fun activities, both study-related and non-study related. Think, for example, of drinks, museum visits and the annual trip abroad. A study association is not the same as a student association. We don't do scary hazing or weird obligations. Everything is optional (but fun!).

What are we doing?
As a study association, we organize all kinds of activities. Once every two weeks we have a drink in the center of Amsterdam, but we also organize trips such as the freshman weekend and the trip abroad, where we spend a few days in a beautiful destination that is also related to antiquity. For example, we have been to Thessaloniki and Pompeji in recent years. We also organize studio-related activities such as museum visits and lectures. The museums include the Allard Pierson museum in Amsterdam or the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden. There are also umbrella activities that are organized together with Laverna, the study association for Classics.

Why join?
Becoming a member of Synkratos is a nice way to get in touch with not only people from your own year, but also from the older years. You can also contact them with questions about all kinds of study and non-studio related matters. In this way you also get to know your fellow students outside the lecture hall. It is above all a place to socialize and to make new friends.
If all this does not appeal to you enough; it also saves you money, because with a membership to Synkratos you get a discount on your study books. In short: plenty of reasons!

How can you become a member?
If you would like to become a member or if you have any questions for us, you can send an email to: synkratos.fgw@vu.nl A membership costs 10 euros for freshmen and 15 euros for 2nd years and up, and you get a lot in return!

Greetings and we hope to see you soon,
The board
